Engineered Art
The TWT Group has supported numerous artists' visions by providing feasibility engineering, schematic and detailed design support, and technical supervision from concept through installation. We work extensively with Carlson & Company and other firms providing design and engineering support for some of their clients' most challenging projects.
Prototype Vehicles
The TWT Group has broad experience creating custom vehicle designs based on very diverse and demanding requirements. Our projects cover a spectrum of applications, including cutting edge ride vehicles, passenger-carrying AGVs, space crew escape vehicles, autonomous fire fighting robots, and even a traditional trolley car.
House Mover Construction Vehicle
A large home builder approached the TWT Group to design and develop a prototype construction vehicle to enable his next generation home fabrication strategy. From a clean sheet of paper, the TWT Group created the basic design of the "house mover" dual vehicle system along with a number of strategies and tools for integrating the vehicle with home fabrication, transportation, and installation. At least eight patents are pending for this innovative system.
Ride Simulator System
The TWT Group provides clients with decades of experience designing and engineering some of the world's most exciting rides. Our projects typically involve passenger attendance measured in the millions per year where the ride system's design life is measured in decades. From blue sky concepts to facility acceptance testing, we assembly teams of designers and engineers who are skilled in the unique combination of ride experience, passenger safety, and durability required for these systems.
Kennedy Space Center's Shuttle Launch Experience
The Kennedy Space Center in Florida wanted a spectacular new attraction to give guests the visceral sensation of being in a Space Shuttle launch along with a dazzling view of Earth from space. The TWT Group was retained to develop the basic ride concept through preliminary design. We also built a full-scale mockup of the ride system and prototypes of the active seats.
Space Shuttle astronauts helped us develop the ride profile to be as realistic as possible. Biodynamic engineers evaluated the ride for safety issues. From this information, the TWT Group developed the bid package for the ride, managed the procurement process, and acted as Owner's Technical Representation during final design, construction, installation, and commissioning. The ride opened on time and was awarded the 2008 THEA Award for Outstanding Achievement.
